Having four kids wasn’t exactly the plan. We always thought three would be our cut-off, but when we found out we were pregnant with #4, we couldn’t have been more thrilled. Fast forward 3 years, and here we are: a 2, 5, 7, and 9-year-old; football, gymnastics, dance, karate; three different schools; and did I mention I own a small business?
These days, my mind never really turns off. I’m always running (sometimes literally) from one thing to the next, trying to keep up with schedules, making mental checklists, and barely grabbing time for myself. I’m either asking one of the kids about school, reminding someone to pick something up, wiping down a counter or a little face, or searching for a snack that will double as my “meal” for the day.
Life is chaotic, messy, and I’m pretty sure I’m late to something right now as I write this. But even in the middle of the craziness, I try to remind myself: one day, the house will be quiet. No one will sneak in for late-night snuggles, and though “me” time will finally be mine again, I’ll probably look back on these years and wish they were still this small.
So here I am, writing to share the ups, downs, and hilarity of it all. I hope my stories make you laugh, nod along, and feel a little less alone in the beautiful chaos of mom hood. Welcome to the “Hot Mess Mom Diary”—let’s embrace the messy, the chaotic, and everything in between!
In solidarity & snacks, your fellow hot mess mom,
~ B ~
